The Ministry shall strive to maintain a level playing field for all youth serving organizations which have been accredited as NYP Implementing Partners (NYPIP). Part of the strategies to achieve this will be to establish standards and protocols that will enhance the chances of each organisation to operate optimally towards a unified objective, which is the achievement of the goals of the National Youth Policy. 

 

Other objectives include:

  • to align the activities of these organisations to the objectives of the National Youth Policy; 
  • to provide a level playing field for each NGO to access opportunities for youth through its platform;
  • to redirect the focus of youth NGOs towards designing and implementing programmes that will help to achieve specific objectives.

3.1 NATIONAL YOUTH POLICY PROGRAMME SUPPORT

The Ministry shall establish and sustain a SUPPORT SYSTEM for organisations which have been accredited as National Youth Policy Implementing Partners. Every year, the Ministry shall call for proposals from the NYPIPs on thematic areas for support. Those that meet the requirements will be supported to carry out activities that will eventually respond to the goals and objectives of the National Youth Policy. 

 

3.2 REFERRAL SERVICES

The Ministry shall undertake referral services for accredited Organisations wishing to access support from sources other than the Ministry. To qualify, the programme for which the support/referral is being sought must fall within any of the objectives or priority themes of the National Youth Policy.

 

3.3 OFFICIAL COUNTRY YOUTH REPRESENTATION

The Ministry acknowledges that Nigerian youth are making impact on the global scene and are being elected or appointed into various positions as the country’s representatives in different International Organisations. While the Ministry will continue to encourage and support her youth to aspire and occupy such positions, all Official Representation by youth shall only be recognized subject to the following guidelines:

  • Official Country Representatives shall only be selected from members of accredited NYPIP.
  • The Ministry shall, in collaboration with the respective Ministry, Department, Agency, support and sponsor any Nigerian Youth who wishes to vie for any elective position in any International Organisation. However, such youth must apply to the Ministry and be endorsed/ sponsored by his/her organization.

 

 

  • The Ministry shall only recognize the Organisation (not Individuals) as the platforms through which youth from Nigeria can become the Country’s Official Representative (either by election, nomination, appointment or any other means) at any International Forum or Organization. 
  • No individual who gets a Representative position at any such global organisation/ forum shall be deemed to be Nigeria’s Official Representative unless such position is ratified by the Ministry or the respective government organ in collaboration with the Ministry.
